CALL FOR PAPERS EMBLECAT 2025 (Vol. 1. No. 14)

Dear members of the academic community, in this Call For Papers, at EMBLECAT we are looking for articles with a fresh, critical and in-depth look at these issues, which will help us to explore contemporary art from perspectives and disciplines that challenge established paradigms. We want Emblecat to become a dynamic space, where the diversity of voices and approaches nourish cultural and academic debate, both in the local sphere of Barcelona and in the Latin American and international context.

We encourage you to publish in this journal, which has a critical and multidisciplinary approach with the following thematic axes for scientific articles:

THEMATIC AXES

FOR SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES

◦ Studies on works of art and authors of the 20th and 21st centuries.

◦ Critiques and reflections on the latest trends in contemporary art in Latin America and the world.

◦ Decolonialism in the visual arts and cultural praxis, decolonial studies that deconstruct the canon in the art field.

◦ Studies on ecology and art, reflections on the climate crisis.

◦ New approaches to art theory and practice from an intersectional gender perspective.

◦ Visual culture and activism: the power of the image.

◦ The role of institutional critique and its impact on the configuration of art. Crises and renovations of art institutions.

◦ Analysis of contemporary art historiography and visual studies.

In addition to these suggested themes, other contributions, essays or non-academic publications that include analyses of biennials, art fairs and other contemporary exhibition spaces; interviews with artists (emerging or consolidated), curators, and museum directors, will be considered for inclusion in other sections of the journal that are not subject to peer review (Positions and reflections, reviews and interviews). These contributions are reviewed by the director and the editorial board.
